Dryer vent cleaning

An often overlooked  but very important home maintenance item is dryer vent cleaning.  Over 10,000 reports of fires in the home have started with the dryer or washing machine.  In addition to the potential for a fire to start from lint buildup in the dryer vent, cleaning out the excess lint build up can help with the efficiency of the dryer.    

A dryer vent cleaning from Red Door Home Inspections will typically include removing the dryer away from wall, cleaning behind washer and dryer, cleaning the entire dryer vent ducting with a brush and vacuum.  The exit point of the dryer vent will be cleaned, whether it is located on the roof or on side of home.  A new flexible dryer duct will be installed behind the dryer, and finally, the area below the lint trap in the dryer will be cleaned where possible.  Various appliance scenarios may dictate a different approach to the cleaning.  Any repairs needed may be an extra cost and will be discussed at time of service.
